Early Life and Career

Luis Severino was born on February 20, 1994, in Sabana de la Mar, Dominican Republic. He began his professional baseball career in 2012 when he signed with the New York Yankees as an international free agent.

Major League Debut

After spending several years in the minor leagues, Severino made his Major League debut with the Yankees in 2015. He quickly established himself as a valuable member of the team, posting a 3.04 earned run average (ERA) and striking out 190 batters in 193.1 innings pitched.

In 2017, Severino had a breakout season, going 14-6 with a 2.98 ERA and finishing seventh in the American League Cy Young Award voting. He continued to perform well in subsequent seasons, earning All-Star selections in 2018 and 2019.

Following the 2021 season, Severino was traded to the New York Mets. He has since become a key part of the Mets' starting rotation, contributing to the team's success in recent years.
