Dallas Mavs Trade Grades

Mavericks Acquire PJ Washington, Daniel Gafford Ahead of Playoff Push

Mavs Make Bold Moves to Bolster Roster

Daniel Gafford Traded to Dallas for Richaun Holmes

The Dallas Mavericks have made significant moves to strengthen their roster ahead of the NBA playoff push. The team has acquired forward PJ Washington from the Charlotte Hornets and center Daniel Gafford from the Washington Wizards. In a trade with the Hornets, the Mavericks sent guard Spencer Dinwiddie and a 2025 second-round pick to Charlotte for Washington. The 23-year-old forward has averaged 12.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per game this season and provides the Mavericks with another versatile frontcourt option. The Mavericks also made a deal with the Wizards, acquiring Gafford in exchange for center Richaun Holmes. Gafford, 24, is a strong rebounder and defender who will provide a physical presence in the paint.

The Mavericks have been active in their pursuit of improving their roster, and these trades are a clear indication of their intentions to compete for a playoff berth. With the addition of Washington and Gafford, the Mavericks now have a more well-rounded team with depth and talent at every position. The Mavericks are currently seventh in the Western Conference standings and are in contention for one of the final playoff spots. The acquisitions of Washington and Gafford only strengthen their chances of making a deep run in the playoffs.

The Mavericks will face the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday in their first game since the trade deadline. It will be the first opportunity for fans to see the new-look Mavericks in action.
