Araujo Denied As Uruguay Held By Colombia

Uruguay vs Colombia: Match Report

Araujo denied as Uruguay held by Colombia

Maxi Araujo was denied a late winner as Uruguay were held to a goalless draw by Colombia in their Copa América semi-final first leg.

The Barcelona winger broke clear on the left wing in the 89th minute, but goalkeeper David Ospina made a superb save to deny him.

Uruguay had the better chances throughout the match, but they were unable to find a way past Ospina, who was in inspired form.

The result leaves the tie finely poised ahead of the second leg in Barranquilla on Tuesday.

Uruguay will be confident of progressing to the final, but Colombia will be no pushovers. The Colombians have a strong record at home, and they will be determined to overturn the first-leg deficit.

The second leg of the Copa América semi-final between Uruguay and Colombia will be played on Tuesday, July 10, at the Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Melendez in Barranquilla, Colombia.
